In 2018, gospel singer Judith Babirye caused a stir after she secretly got married to a married man, Paul Musoke Ssebulime.
This happened at the time Babirye was the Buikwe district Woman Member of Parliament (MP) and Ssebulime MP for Buikwe South.
Many Ugandans joined Ssebulime’s wife Lukia Ntale in castigating the woman of God who intentionally broke her fellow woman’s marriage.
However, she has now come out and apologised for her mistakes. During church service on Sunday, the singer went on her knees and asked for forgiveness from different people including her former cowife Lukia.
Babirye has also been receiving so much hate from National Unity Platform ( NUP ) supporters accusing her of betraying her nation when she supported the removal of the Age Limit allowing presidents to rule for life.
“You are saying Togikwatako [don’t touch it], are you the one who brought it?” she asked a group of residents who attended her consultative rally at the close of last week. “You know that if we don’t touch it, it will smell,” the soul singer turned politician repeated, sending the crowd into bouts of laughter. These statements attracted hate to her.
