Uganda’s Kiplimo has made history after winning another golden medal at the 2022 commonwealth games in Birmingham. Kiplimo stepped to the finishing line in 13:8:08 to deny Kenyans glory at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
After a close 12 laps, Jacob Krop and Kimeli charged on the inside lane in the final 200meters and seemed to be sure they will finish on top. However, Kiplimo charged in the final 100m to claim the first position in one of the best performances of the Commonwealth games so far.
Uganda’s Kiplimo earlier won the 10,000M gold, and now becomes the third Ugandan to complete a double (5000m and 10000m) at Commonwealth Games after Joshua Cheptegei (2018 Gold Coast) and Moses Kipsiro (2010 Delhi).
Uganda has so far bagged five medals, three gold medals and two bronze medals.
