Power Mike Foundation Uganda Limited in the Kumi district has disclosed that a none title fight is underway aimed at preparing kickboxers for the 2024 kickboxing Olympics.
The event will take place on the 20th, of Aug 2022 at Kumi Boma grounds in Kumi district.
Dan Okiror, known as Power Mike, will grace the event with a curtain raiser fight against Jordan Marizizo from Buganda.
“I want to assure the public that come 20th, Aug 2022, I am set to fight against the Buganda man, I love kickboxing and have been waiting for it,” said Okiror.
James Robert Otim, the Executive Director of Power Mike Foundation said Power Mike Foundation Uganda’s limited targets are to promote kickboxing in Teso and Uganda.
“kickboxing is one of the interesting games, I want to inform the youth that they should join kickboxing clubs in order to develop our communities”, said Mr Otim.
No Kickboxing event has ever been organized since the lockdown was lifted in Uganda.
Gates will be open at 10:00 am, and at 2:00 pm the kickboxing curtain raisers open before the big fights commence at 9:00 pm.
“We have a lot of activities on that day, but our main aim is to recreate kickboxing in Teso”, added Otim.
