Floods hit Mbale city in Eastern Uganda leaving property worth billions and lives lost. At least three people have so far been confirmed dead while some are feared missing due.
The rain started on Saturday at 8pm till 7am Sunday and left many areas flooded. Mr Ahamada Waashaki, the Mbale City Resident Commissioner said the floods may be as a result of Namatala and Nashibiso rivers water bursting their banks.
Some of the bodies were seen floating on water as some people are seen trying to search for their loved ones.
The most victims of this disaster are boda boda riders and small vehicle drivers
Affected areas are Kampala Road, Busajjabwankuba, Nabuyonga rise, Busamaga, Mukangga, Maluku Adra, Musoto among others.
The heavy rains are believed to have affected other nearby district like Butaleja and Bulambuli.
In Butaleja district affected areas are Leresi cell, Butaleja Town council along Mbale-Butaleja-Busolwe road. This has left many travelers stranded due to flooded roads.
