On Friday, Sheilah Gashumba was unveiled as the new co-host on NBS after 5 show after days of talent searching on social media.
Sheilah Gashumba was born on 7th February, 1996, She is a Ugandan TV host, entertainer, model and business woman. She is best known as the youngest Journalist to cover the well known CHOGM in 2009, which was presided over by The Queen of England. She is most recognizable for having worked for a widely read daily newspaper ‘Daily Monitor’ in a column called CHOGM Teens.
According to Gashumba, she was contacted by Douglas Lwanga on Wednesday and signed a contract on the same day only to start presenting on Thursday.
According to sources, NBS television’s first priority was Crysto Panda of NTV. However, everything changed when NTV Uganda offered him a new and bigger deal.
Sources say NTV gave him a lunchtime show dubbed The Vybe which will start airing in January 2022 which forced him to ditch the NBS television offer.
NBS TV was later left with no option but to ask Douglas Lwanga to contact Sheilah Gashumba to fill the gap since all their contestants were not popular enough for the show.
Sheilah whose pay at NTV Uganda was only a million shillings a month for her appearances on NTV The Beat explained that she was given a good amount of money by Kin Kaliisa which compelled her to take the job adding that the job will help her promote her other gigs.
It is alleged that ever since she resigned from NTV Uganda, she has been searching for a local Television station to help her keep relevant in the industry.
A number of people including Galaxy FM’s Emeka, Robin Kisti, Mc Casmir, Comedian Uncle Mo among others auditioned for the job but we’re not considered.
Crysto Panda was so much angered by NBS’ choice explaining through her socials that they chose numbers instead of talent. She added that the station management itself contacted and invited her to audition, well knowing that they had their choice.
